Verizon Droid Incredible Gingerbread update delayed yet again
Those with a Droid Incredible are in for yet another long wait for their device to be updated to Gingerbread, as revealed by a Verizon employee on the carrier’s support forums recently. According to the employee, the update has been delayed indefinitely as there’s yet more product testing to be completed and they “will post more info” once they are sure the update is ready. The device may not be as lucky as its GSM counterpart, the HTC Desire, may stay on Froyo 2.2 officially for the rest of its mobile life.
The good news is that there is a bustling dev community surrounding the aging device and there are leaked Android 2.3.4 builds floating around the web, just waiting to be flashed. So, Droid Incredible users may not have to wait for a handout from Verizon or HTC after all, when they could be rocking a custom Gingerbread ROM which offers far more functionality and eye candy than the official version might bring.
