Verizon Motorola Droid X2 gets official
Verizon’s first dual-core Android smartphone, the Motorola Droid X2 has now been officially announced. The smartphone will be available starting tomorrow, May 19th, online and across the nation in Verizon stores on May 26 – the price currently stands at $199.99 with a new two-year contract.
Apart from the highlighted dual-core 1GHz processor, the Droid X2 comes with a 4.3-inch qHD display, 512MB RAM, inbuilt 6GB storage for storing media shot on its 8-megapixel shooter, and the usual Sauron-like eye in red accompanied by a bevy of connectivity options – the phone currently runs on Android 2.2 but is upgradeable to 2.3 Gingerbread when it is released by Verizon/Motorola. Also making a special appearance on the device is HDMI-out which should make it easier to watch self-shot videos in HD quality on your 42-incher or even watch Youtube videos in high def.
On the whole, the device does seem to be worth its salt except for a single drawback we can discern right now – the lack of a front-facing camera – which could turn out to be a dealbreaker in many cases.
