VINCI Tab – Android for Tots
It looks like VINCI is getting ready to tap into a market segment that has been ignored by most Android manufacturers – kids. The company is releasing the VINCI Tab – a Gingerbread tablet tailored for toddlers who are always having a go at their father’s precious Galaxy Tab or the Flyer.
While the device may be built for kids, with a soft foam hand encircling the entire device and the display itself made of tempered glass, the specs are good enough to keep any adult satisfied. Major features include:
- 7-inch 800×480 multitouch display
- 3MP camera with 720p video recording
- 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU with 512MB RAM
- 4GB or 8GB of internal storage with microSD slot for further expansion
- Support for H.264, MP4, MP3, VBR, Audible and WAV media
- Android Gingerbread 2.3 Operating System with preloaded games, storybooks and music videos suitable for children.
VINCI has eliminated all kinds of connectivity on the device, a good idea to prevent accidental visits that could later translate into huge credit card bills. But the device will still burn a hole in your pocket as the asking prices are $480 and $389 respectively for the 4GB and 8GB versions. If still unfazed by the price tag, head over to VINCI’s site to preorder the tablet, which may be released by August 10.
This is awesome! My daughter will absolutely be asking for this come Christmas time.
