Windows Phone 7.8 Update Headed to Nokia Lumia Devices Now Through February

It’s a good day to be a Nokia Lumia owner as the Windows Phone 7.8 update is rolling out now for the Lumia 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900 devices. Owners should see the software update notifications hit their handsets anytime between now and the month of February.

So what will the Windows Phone 7.8 update bring to users? Highlighted features include a new start screen UI with resizable live tiles, just like what can be seen in the Windows Phone 8 and twice the amount of  theme and accent colors and adds other new lock screen features.  The update also gives users Windows Phone 8 branding to existing Lumia devices on the splash screen and icons for Games, Office and Windows Phone Store.

While Nokia left out specific dates for each Lumia model we do know the company promised the update will reach all phones within the first three weeks of February.

HTC and Samsung have yet to comment on their own Windows Phone 7.8 update plans for their devices.
