Windows Phone App of the Day: ScoreMobile

Is everyone watching the Celtics in the NBA playoffs? Well, I’m not because I work two jobs, but I still care that Rondo and the rest of the C’s are teaching the Heat not to “F” with a team that has 17 Championships. And because I’m a good friend, I will skip tonight’s (possibly final) installment that will lead to another Boston victory and go to a friend’s birthday party in anti-basketball Brooklyn instead. Still, I’ll wake up tomorrow completely up-to-date on everything sports.

An awesome alternative to ESPN ScoreCenter, ScoreMobile for Windows Phone 7, created by Score Media Ventures, give you up-to-the-minute access to scores, boxscores, fantasy stats (!!), standings, news, betting odds, blogs, videos, and more! An honorable mention in the WPApp Awards 2012, ScoreMobile makes keeping up with all your teams easy and fun.

  • “Stats” option lets you see stats for each individual player, including: Assists, Rebounds, and Points (scroll right to view the different stats)
  • View the latest news in the league by selecting “News” from your home page
  • View the top videos pertaining to your selected league or click on the drop box to choose what you want to see
  • Click the “Back” button to choose a different category

Conclusion

I really like that ScoreMobile has included so many leagues and teams. It’s easy to find exactly what you’re looking for, and the interface is smooth and pretty self-explanatory. I wish it offered a live tile for when your favorite teams are playing (or even the option to choose your favorite teams!) so I can easily check the scores from my home page, but other than that, I really can’t complain. The blog and video features are great, and it does everything a good score-tracking app should do. Next version, please incorporate live tiles, a favorite list, and the ability to share scores through Email and social media so I can rub it in to all those Heat fans who are about to be disappointed.
