Windows Phone App of the Day: Wooter
This was a two-step process for me because, while I thought the app sounded cool, i had no idea what Woot.com was, and that’s pretty central to the app’s usability. Woot.com is a site that offers community sourced deals through targeted daily emails (sound familiar??) in categories such as home, kids, wine, shirts, and closeout sales. The Shirt.Woot and obviously the Wine.Woot is great, but other than that, it seems like an odd assortment of offerings, which definitely won’t cut it while competing against daily deal giants like Groupon and LivingSocial Deals.
Pros
- Free!
- Connects to Woot.com profile
- Offers change daily
- View pictures, read reviews, and purchase deals
- Sleek, easy to use UI
Cons
- No live tile
- Must sign up on Woot.com before using app
How It Works
- Download from the “Lifestyle / Shopping” section of your marketplace
- Open from app list
- Scroll through pivots to view daily deals
- Select “I want one!” to purchase deal
- Sign up for Woot.com or sign in to create an account
- Connect your profile with the Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Yahoo, or Google accounts
Conclusion
I’m trying to imagine myself using all of the daily deal offerings at once, and it’s an odd image. Picture me wearing a fishing t-shirt, carrying two bottles of wine and a Crawford knife, with a Toshiba camcorder and a baby sleep sack in my purse. Disturbing, no? I already get too many daily deal emails to my inbox, so I deleted my Woot.com account already, but the discounts are steep and the users interface is so simple, even a monkey could do it…if the monkey wanted to get drunk on two bottles of wine and don a fishing t-shirt. Yep, much better image.
