How To: Load a Custom ROM on the HTC Legend
June 7, 2010 in Android How To's, Featured, How To's, HTC Legend How To's, Video
I. Before You Begin
1. You MUST have done our How To Root the HTC Legend. If you haven’t, go do it and then come back here to continue.
II. Download the ROM You Want
1. Goto our HTC Legend ROMs section on our site and choose from the ROMs there. Download the one you want and save it to your computer (do NOT extract it, leave it as a .zip).
2. Plug your phone in via USB cable and mount the sd card so we can transfer files to it.
3. Copy the ROM .zip file to the root of your sdcard (NOT in any folders just on the sd card itself).
4. Now, turn the phone off and turn it back on by holding down Volume Down and Power until the Bootloader mode comes up.
5. Using the volume buttons and power to select, navigate and choose Recovery. The phone should reboot to a ! screen. (The phone should still be plugged in to the computer right now).
6. Now, on the computer open the Legend Root folder you extracted in the How To Root the Legend procedure and double click the “‘recovery-windows.bat” file and wait for your phone to boot into a recovery menu.
7. In the recovery menu on your phone, navigate using the trackpad to Wipe and click it. Then click Wipe data/factory reset.
8. Once it is done wiping, click Volume Down to go back to the main menu and now select Flash zip from sdcard and choose the .zip file you downloaded and saved to your sd card just now.
9. Once it is done flashing, select Reboot and your all set! You are now running your custom ROM. Enjoy!

Unplug anything plugged in via USB, restart your computer and try again (it thinks there is more than one phone connected)

Hey Dave, I have an issue, I just rooted and every time I go into recovery it just shows the phone an exclamation point. Also I cant connect to my Data network, I can only make calls and text. Any help?

You have to run the windowsrecovery.bat file(something like that) from the rooting guide when the exclamation mark come sup. I dont know why but that what I have to do then it loads the recovery menu.

Hi dave thankyou for all the guides i successfully rooted my HTC Legend and flashed the cyanogenmod. But my favorite tool (wardrive) no longer works and it did before. (I do have google maps it needs it to work) So now I want to get rid of cyanogen and put on the stock rock that came with the phone. But of course I dont want to lose root! Help me out and give me a link to a trusted stock HTC legend rom 2.2 android please.
