Demo: BlackBerry PlayBook plays nice with Android apps

Was the PlayBook a hit or something that RIM wants to forget and move on to greener pastures? Many would say that the device could have been better and a lot of nags (no native IM or email app, on a BlackBerry device, isn’t that crazy?) could have been avoided to complement the QNX operating system and the hefty hardware built in.  Of course, RIM has promised weekly updates which could fix the issues plaguing the tablet, and one redeeming factor for the PlayBook could be the ability to “play back” Android apps, alongside apps downloaded from BlackBerry’s App World.

As can be seen from the video above, the apps do run pretty smoothly and seem to be contained within the “Android player” – sort of like playing old-school SNES games through an emulator on your Android device – and you can’t run more than one app at a time.  That aside, most of the apps do seem snappy enough to actually use, going by the video.  Watch it above for the complete lowdown.
