Download and install the Quick Boot app from Google play and it’ll let you boot into the Recovery with just a single tap.

      Hope it helps!

  1. As far as I know this method only works for locked bootloaders. For people who are having trouble using this method, you probably have a locked bootloader.

I would suggest you to try out the following method ..

    Download ClockWorkMod Recovery here. http://kumquat-project.googlecode.com/files/cwm-1.0-kumquat.zip

1.Extract downloaded compressed file to the desktop.

    2. Close all the applications that can make a connection with your phone. For instance PC companion, Flashtool. Make sure that those applications not running in the notification area.

    3. Connect your phone to the PC via the USB cable.

    4. Double click on the extracted file “install.bat”

    5. Wait for a few minutes to complete the installation.

6.When the Windows CMD window display “Finished!”,press any key to continue

7.Congratulation, now you just installed the CWM recovery.

8.To boot into the recovery, reboot the Xperia U.

    9. When you see the Sony boot-logo and LED turn to “Blue”, rapidly press and release the “Volume Down” Button.
