How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Ace 4
So maybe you love your sleek little Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 –budget-friendly, good camera, crisp screen, etc. But what if you’re getting a little bored with it now that you’ve had it for a year or so? You could go buy a new phone, but that’s expensive and, frankly, unnecessary. Instead, you should root it.
Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 is the process of gaining administrative rights on it. This then allows you to make changes to the operating system that Samsung or your carrier wouldn’t have allowed before. Things from removing bloatware apps that you didn’t want in the first place but Samsung put on their before you bought it, to customizing the entire look and feel of the phone with a new version of the operating system (called a Custom ROM). There’s a ton you can do once you have root access.
So, to get started, you’ll need to first root the Galaxy Ace 4 and thanks to some crafty developers over at XDA-Developers.com, it’s not too hard to do. Here’s how.
I. Before You Begin
1. You are rooting your device at your own risk. We won’t be held responsible for any damage that may occur as the consequence of doing this procedure.
2. You must have a PC running Windows to do this procedure.
3. Make sure that Samsung USB drivers are installed on your PC. If they aren’t, install them first.
4. This only works for the SM-G357FZ variant of the device. You can find out your variant by heading to Menu > Settings > About phone on your device.
How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Ace 4
Gaining root-access on the Galaxy Ace 4 is as simple as flashing two files using the Odin. That’s actually what you’re going to do in the following procedure. So, go ahead and get it done!
II. Downloading Required Files
1. Download Root Package and save it to your desktop.
2. Download Odin and save it to your desktop.
III. Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Ace 4
1. Extract files from both Odin and Root Package to your desktop by right-clicking on each of them and selecting Extract here.
2. Rename the step1 file so that it has .tar as its extension by right-clicking on the file and selecting Rename.
3. Double-click on Odin executable to launch it on your PC.
4. When Odin launches, the first thing you need to do is uncheck Repartition.
5. Click on AP in the Odin and select step1 file available on your desktop.
6. Turn off your device.
7. Turn your device back on in download mode. To do that, hold down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together for a couple of seconds.
8. Hit Volume UP to enter the download mode on your device.
9. Plug in your device to your PC using a USB cable.
10. Click on Start in the Odin and wait for it to flash the selected file on your device.
11. When Odin’s done flashing the file, reboot your device.
12. Reboot your device into download mode again by holding down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.
13. Connect your device to your PC with the help of a USB cable.
14. Launch Odin by double-clicking on its executable file.
15. Click on AP in the Odin and select step2 file to be flashed on your device.
16. Ensure that Repartition is unchecked in the Odin.
17. Hit Start in the Odin and wait for it to flash step2 file on your device.
18. When it’s done flashing step2 file, reboot your device.
19. You’re now fully rooted!
