How to Get Full Tablet UI Experience on Nexus 7 Tablet

Nexus 7 is an Android Tablet which runs on the Android Jelly Bean version. We have been seeing custom ROMs and Tweaks for this small 7″ inch tablet since it was announced at the Google I/O and today, we are going to show you how you can get the full tablet experience on your Nexus 7 Tablet. This is a simple tweak and we will be using an app to accomplish the task. Follow the steps given below to get started.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your Nexus 7 Tablet. Please head to our how to root Nexus 7 procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.

2. The tweak that you are going to use is fully reversible. So, if something doesn’t work properly after applying the tweak, you can easily restore to the default.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Download the Astro File Manager App from here. (Google Play Link)

III. Applying the Tweak on your Nexus 7:

1. Download and install the Astro File Manager app on your tablet.

2. Once it is installed on your tablet, simply open it from the Menu.

3. In the app, navigate to /system folder.

4. Tap and hold on build.prop file until you get a context menu.

5. Choose Open As from the options displayed on your screen.

6. Choose Text from the Menu that is being shown on your screen.

7. Now, select File Editor from the list of editors.

8. Here, find the following line in the file:

ro.sf.lcd_density = 213

9. Replace it with the following line:

ro.sf.lcd_density = 170

10. Save the file and exit the app on your tablet.

11. Reboot your Nexus 7 Tablet.

Congrats ! You have successfully enabled the Full Tablet User Interface on your Nexus 7. If anytime you wish to restore to default, simply replace the line in the step-9 with the line in the step-8.
