How to Install ClockworkMod Recovery on the HTC EVO 4G LTE

The official version of the ClockworkMod Recovery is not available for the HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone, yet, however, a developer has managed to get it up and running on the device. Usually, the developers make some modifications in the recovery image file to make it compatible with the device, so here’s how you can install ClockworkMod Recovery on the HTC EVO 4G LTE.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the HTC EVO 4G LTE procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.

2. You must have unlocked bootloader of your device. You can do so from here.

3. It is recommended that your device should have at least 60% of battery life left for a smoother process.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Fastboot

2. ClockworkMod Recovery Image (It’s attached there in the first post)

III. Installing ClockworkMod Recovery on the HTC EVO 4G LTE:

1. Download and place both the files onto your Desktop.

2. Unzip files from the Fastboot archive to your Desktop. You should get adb.exe and fastboot.exe along with some other files.

3. Rename the ClockworkMod Recovery Image you downloaded to recovery.img. It will make it easier to call during the process.

4. Turn OFF your smartphone using the Power button.

5. Reboot your device into the bootloader mode. It can be done by pressing and holding Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.

6. From the bootloader menu, select the Fastboot mode.

7. Connect the device to your PC using the USB cable.

8. Open a Command Prompt Window on the Desktop of your PC. To do that, simply press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard and right-click on any empty area on the screen, then choose Open command window here.

9. Type in the following commands into the Command Prompt Window:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

10. It should take a minute or two to finish installing the recovery. After it’s done, reboot your device by issuing the following command:

fastboot reboot

11. You’re done now !

Your device now have the ClockworkMod Recovery installed and if you wish, you can load a custom ROM on it.
