3 Tips for Moto Assist Voice Command on the Droid Turbo

Oh, Droid Turbo. You have so many cool features, but sometimes there are too many apps that do the same thing. It takes a bit of work to weed through the bloatware and decide what you actually want and need. In that vein, you might notice that your phone comes equipped with both Voice Search and Moto Assist’s voice command feature. Both can be voice activated (always fun), and can set reminders, make calls, and tell you how much the average north american mallard weighs. However, Moto Assist’s voice activated robot-lady does have some useful features beyond Voice Search’s current capabilities. Not that I’m trying to sway you towards one or the other. Heck, keep both if you want. But keep reading to check out some of Moto Assist’s unique voice command features and how to use them.

Take a Selfie

While Voice Search and Moto Assist are both capable of opening your camera app for you, only Moto Assist gives you the option to take a selfie. It opens your camera in selfie mode (saving you the exertion of pushing an extra button to flip the screen), and even takes the picture for you- freeing you up to focus on nothing but making sure your Tyra Banks Smize is extra fab.

1. Wake up your Moto Assist’s Voice Command feature from any screen by saying your command phrase (ie: “make it happen, Droid Turbo”).

2. When the blue screen with the microphone pops up, say “take a selfie.”

3. Your camera should open and begin a short countdown until it takes the photo, giving you time to pose.

And there you have it. If your duck face is anywhere near as awesome as mine, you’re gonna get so many likes on instagram. I’m for serious.

Find my Phone

If you’re constantly losing your Droid Turbo amongst all the pillows on your bed because you sleep with your phone (not that I do that, I’m just saying…), Moto Assist can help you find it, by enabling the most god awful beeping noise you’ve ever heard. If your phone is within a two mile radius, I bet you’ll hear it.

2. Yell “find my phone.” When your poor lost device hears you, loud beeping will ensue. (The screen will be blue, as seen below, but you won’t see it because your phone is lost, silly.)

3. When you find your phone, tap the X to stop the beeping.

Goodnight

Before going to bed, make sure you say goodnight to your Droid Turbo. It will enable any “sleep” settings you may have programmed into Moto Assist. Plus, she even tells you to sleep well. She’s so cute.

Fun fact: If you just like talking to your robot-secretary, say “good morning” to her and she’ll wish you a good day.

So, techies, what’s the verdict? Is it Moto Assist voice command, Voice Search, both, or neither? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below.
