7-inch Acer Iconia Tab A100 set to release early August
The 10-inch elder brother is already out in the loose but Acer’s 7-inch Android tablet, the A100, is still under wraps. Not for long though, as Engadget reports, the device will be released early August, which could mean anywhere in the first week or two of next month. The delay seems to have been mainly because of the Honeycomb OS’s incompatibility with smaller 7-inch screens, but now that it’s taken care of by the Android 3.2 update, Acer should have no problems pushing the device out.
Priced at $300, the Iconia Tab A100 will feature a dual-core Tegra2 1GHz processor, a modest 512MB of memory, 8GB storage capacity, and the 7-inch 1024×600 touchscreen display. The tablet will be sold with Honeycomb 3.2 onboard and all the goodness that comes with it including hardware acceleration and the ability to view apps full screen.
We’ll let you know when this baby hits the shelves next month.
