How to Get the Galaxy Note 2 Multi-Window Feature on the Galaxy S2

If you happen to keep yourself abreast of the latest Android News, you might have heard about the Galaxy Note 2 Multi-Window feature. As the name itself suggests, using the feature, you can have multiple-windows open on your device similar to the Window(s) you use on your Windows OS. While the feature’s only available for the Note 2 phablet owners, it seems that the working Android Community has brought it up for the Galaxy S2 device as well. You can now enjoy multiple-windows on your Galaxy S2 device by just installing a simple mod file and the following guide shows how exactly you can do this.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your Galaxy S2 device. You can check out our guide for the same.

2. You must have ClockworkMod Recovery installed on your device. See this guide to do so.

3. The following procedure works for Android 4.1.2 XXLSJ deodexed ROMs only.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. MOD File (Download link’s given in the first post)

III. Installing Multi-Window MOD on the Galaxy S2:

1. Download and place the MOD file to your Desktop. Do NOT extract it.

2. Connect your device to your PC via USB cable.

3. Copy the MOD file over to the root of your SD card.

4. Disconnect the device from your PC once the file has been copied.

5. Turn OFF your device.

6. Reboot it into the ClockworkMod Recovery mode. To do so, press and hold the Volume UP+Home+Power buttons together.

7. Once inside the Recovery mode, choose install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.

8. Select the MOD file you copied earlier for flashing.

9. Let it finish flashing the MOD.

10. Once it’s done, choose reboot system now from the recovery menu.

11. And you’re done!

Great! The next time your device starts up, you should be able to use the Multi-Window feature. The installation was as easy as pie, wasn’t it?

  1. Hi,
Is there any procedure to get the same multiwindow feature as note 2 in micromax canvas HD (A116)? If so please guide the correct procedure and also the flaws associated with it.

    1. as of now, there is no way to get this on the Canvas HD. Also, the Canvas HD being a low-priority device compared to the Galaxy series, I doubt if you’ll ever be able to do that unless it’s incorporated into a custom ROM specific for this device. But we’ll let you know when something like this pops up for sure! 🙂
