How to Add More Power Down Options to iOS 7 (Video)

If you’ve ever wished there was a simpler way to reboot, respring, or boot into safe mode on your iPhone running iOS 7, then you’re in luck (oddly enough). A jailbreak tweak called PowerDown, free in the Cydia store, allows you to simply install it and then immediately have such options in the same place that you would find power off –by holding down the power button for a few seconds.

Simple solution to a problem you might not have known you had? Sure. Worth the price of free to have it? Sure. Here’s how to install it and what it’ll look like once installed.

I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad

1. To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our How to Jailbreak iOS 7.1.2 (the latest version at the time of writing this). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.

II. Install PowerDown

1. Open Cydia.

2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.

3. Type in PowerDown.

4. Tap on PowerDown when it shows up.

5. Tap Install at the top right.

6. Tap Restart.

III. Use PowerDown

1. No settings to configure, just hold the power button as if to turn off the device and you’ll get Respring, Reboot, and X as options as well.
