How to Enable WiFi Tethering on the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4
Sick of not being able to turn ON the native WiFi Hotspot on your AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4? Want to have the native WiFi tethering working on your device? No worries, this guide should help you do that. By simply modifying a simple APK file, you’ll be able to share your AT&T data package with all of your WiFi enabled devices. Here’s how:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must be rooted before you can do this procedure. If you aren’t rooted already, please head to our root procedure and root your device, then come back to this procedure and continue.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Tethering Provision APK (It’s attached in the first post)
2. ES File Explorer — QR Code (Google Play Link)
III. Enabling WiFi Tethering on the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4:
1. Place the APK file you just downloaded to your Desktop.
2. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.
3. Copy the APK file over to the root of your SD card.
4. Once the file’s been copied, disconnect your device from your PC.
5. Head over to the Google Play and download and install the ES File Explorer app on your device.
6. Once the app’s been installed, open it from your App Drawer.
7. Go to the /sdcard/ path where you copied the APK file to.
8. Copy the APK file using options available in the app.
9. Now head to /system/app/ directory and you’ll find these two files:
TetheringProvision.apk
TetheringProvision.odex
10. Rename both of these files to:
TetheringProvision.bak
TetheringProvision.bak2
11. Now paste the APK file you copied earlier using the app.
12. Reboot your device.
13. You’re all done!
Excellent! You’ve successfully enabled native WiFi Tethering on your AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4! Enjoy!

it fails after renaming
Has anyone been successful with this?
It fails after renaming. …you have to go back to factory settings and root the galaxy again and use the automatic method from galaxyrooted.com
use “Root Browser” in the play store instead of ES File explorer. it will ask for super user permission and all you have to do is grant access when renaming. all other steps are the same
Just worked for me
Glad to hear that it worked for you!
…renaming the files and adding the new one, that is. ATT GS4 MF3
I used the “Root Browser” and was successful.
CLZ, using ‘Root Browser’ worked perfectly instead of using ‘ES File explorer’!

Hi!, i install this app, execute this but the message error says “Unfortunately, Settings has stopped.”
Seems like there’s an issue with your Android version. Did you remove any system files/apps on your device?
Only replace TetheringProvision, i have not original file in this moment 🙁
