How to Get the Android P Beta Right Now
Google just released the beta of Android P at Google IO earlier this week which means it’s now super easy to try out Android P. If you have one of the following devices, you can sign up for the beta and install it on your device to try out the new Android P Beta features before it’s official release later in the year.
Eligible Devices:
- Essential Phone
- Pixel 2
- Pixel 2 XL
- Pixel
- Pixel XL
- Nokia 7 Plus
- Oppo R15 Pro
- Xperia XZ2
- Vivo X21UD
- Vivo X21
- Mi Mix 2S
Can I just say quickly, how awesome it is to see devices outside of just Pixel ones that can utilize the beta thanks to the software they chose to put on their devices in the first place?
Sign Up for the Android P Beta
Here’s how to get theĀ Android P Beta on your device right now.
Head to the Android Beta Site and sign in with your Google account (must be one that you have installed on your device, as well).
Click on View Your Eligible Devices.
Click Opt-InĀ under the device you want to install the Android Beta on.
Agree to the terms and click Join Beta.
Install the Android P Beta on Your Phone
On your phone, you just signed up for the Beta on, open Settings.
Tap on System.
Tap on System Update.
You should see the new Beta software there (if it doesn’t, reboot the phone or wait a bit for the Android Beta servers to send it). Tap Download and Install.
There you go. Enjoy Android P!
If you want to remove it, simply go back to the Android Beta page and Opt-Out your device and then look for an update on the device and it’ll go back to the latest stable version of Android.
