How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Gio (GT-S5660)

The next obvious step after rooting an Android device is flashing a custom Recovery Image. A custom recovery not only helps you flash custom ROMs, but it lets you take backups of your current ROM so in case you mess up with your device, you can easily revert back to the working firmware. The widely popular ClockworkMod Recovery’s available for the Galaxy Gio and the guide below shows how you can install it on your device. Here you go:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. You can check out our root guide to root your device.

Get the ‘Clockworkmod revovery’ file recommended at the official website because the file in the provided link cannot backup the official ROM. http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager Currently the recommended version that I’m using is 4.0.1.5 . I thank the author for the helpful tutorial.

    It seems to be right.
I installed .zip from this article successfully but CWM showed some errors (something like
    E:Can’t mount /cache/recovery/command
    and so one).
It was not critical but i was worried.
I tried to install 4.0.1.5 version using installed version.
It was installed successfully but after rebooting CWM version was not changed.
I can’t downgrade CWM on my phone but I got rid of errors using ‘wipe cache’ CWM option.
    P.S.: Sorry for my english
