How to Install Custom Recovery on the Karbonn Titanium S5

Now that you are rooted, the next step is to flash a custom recovery (ClockworkMod Recovery in this case) on your Titanium S5.  Flashing a custom recovery not only gives you the ability to flash custom ROMs (if there are any) but also make/restore backups, mount/unmount storage, wipe cache/system/data, etc.  If you want these features, follow the instructions listed below and you should be done in no time.

I.  Before You Begin

1.  Make sure you are rooted before you start.  If you are not rooted, use the guide here to help you.

2.  Back up everything you care about before you start.

3.  Charge your device to 75% or more before you begin.

4.  Install the necessary drivers before you start the procedure to prevent problems during the procedure.

II.  Necessary Downloads

1,  cwmrecovery.img [Download link available under the CWM/Stock Recovery section of this post]

2.  Android.zip

III.  Installing ClockworkMod Recovery

1.  Extract Android.zip to a folder on your desktop.

2.  Copy cwmrecovery.img to the extracted Android folder.

3.  Power down your device and put it into fastboot mode.  To enter fastboot mode, press and hold the Volume Up + Power buttons until you see a green screen and let them go.

4. Connect your device to your PC using a compatible microUSB cable.  If there are drivers being installed at this point, let them do so before continuing.

5.  Right-click on the extracted Android folder and click on Open Command prompt window here.

6.  Run the following commands {Ignore the text in brackets as it is for information purposes only and don’t forget to hit the Enter key at the end of each command in bold}:

fastboot devices [displays your device ID as a string of alphanumeric characters, which means your device is properly recognized and ready to go; if not, reinstall drivers and try again]

fastboot flash recovery cwmrecovery.img [flashes ClockworkMod Recovery to your device]

7.  Reboot your device.

That’s it, you now have ClockworkMod Recovery installed on your Titanium S5.  To boot to CWM, power down your device, hold the Power + Volume Up buttons until you first see a green screen and let go of the Power button but continue holding the Volume Up button until you see a red screen; press the Home button now.  Once in CWM, you can use the Volume buttons to navigate the menu and the Power button to select and execute the options.
