How To: Manually Update Your Nexus One to Android 2.2.2

I. Before You Begin

1. This is for NOT ROOTED STOCK NEXUS ONES. If you are rooted then you can just flash a custom ROM based on this update as always.

2. This fixes the SMS bug as well as “other security updates”.

3. This update requires you to be on build FRG83D (to check go to Settings > About Phone and look for Build version).

II. Manually Install the Update

1. Download the update and save it to your computer.

2. Plug your phone in via USB cable and mount your sd card so we can transfer files to it.

3. Copy the update.zip file you just downloaded to the root of your sd card (NOT in any folders, just on the sd card itself)(do NOT extract it, leave it as a .zip).

4. Turn off the phone and then turn it back on by holding down Volume Down and Power.

5. Scroll to and select Recovery using the volume keys and power to select it.

6. When you see the !, press Power and Volume Up to get the menu to come up.

7. Use the trackball and select apply sdcard:update.zip

8. Wait for it to finish installing then select Reboot System Now.

9. Wait for the phone to reboot, and viola, Done.
