How to Overclock the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7″
If you happen to own the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7″ inch model, you’d be glad to know that a custom kernel has been developed for your device that allows you to overclock your device. Overclocking increases the clock speed of your CPU thus makes your device perform better than ever. It’s one of the customizations you can do after you’ve rooted your device. So if you’re ready and want to learn how you can overclock your device, here’s how:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7″ procedure first and root your device.
2. You must have CWM Recovery installed on your device. If you followed our root guide above, you have it already.
II. Make a Backup:
1. Head over to the Google Play and download and install the Quick Boot app on your device.
2. Open the app from your App Drawer.
3. Tap on the Recovery option to reboot your device into the Recovery mode.
4. Once in Recovery, select backup and restore followed by backup.
5. It’ll create a backup of your current firmware and save it on your device.
6. You’re done!
III. Downloading Required Files:
1. AGNi Kernel (It’s attached in the first post)
IV. Flashing the Overclock Kernel on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7″:
1. Download and place the AGNi Kernel zip on your Desktop.
2. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.
3. Copy the Kernel zip over to the root of your SD card.
4. Once the kernel has been copied, disconnect your device from your PC.
5. Launch the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
6. Hit the Recovery option and you will reboot into the Recovery mode.
7. Once in Recovery, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.
8. Choose the Kernel zip to be flashed on your device.
9. It’ll start flashing the kernel on your device and will take a couple of minutes to finish.
10. Once the kernel’s been flashed, reboot your device.
11. You’re all done!
V. Overclocking the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7″:
1. Download and install either of these apps on your device:
2. Once installed, launch the app from your App Drawer.
3. Now use the available slider or the option to increase your CPU clock speed. Keep on increasing it slowly as long as your device doesn’t crash.
4. Make sure not to choose save on boot option in the app as it may crash your device.
5. Once your device becomes stable at a specific clock speed, close the app.
6. You’re all set!
Brilliant! Your device’s been successfully overclocked and now get ready to experience the best performance of your device!
VI. Reverting Back to the Stock Kernel (Optional):
1. Launch the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
2. Hit the Recovery option to reboot your device into Recovery mode.
3. Once in Recovery, select backup and restore followed by restore.
4. Restore the most recent backup you have there on the list.
5. It’ll start restoring the backup on your device and it’ll take some good time to finish.
6. Once the backup has been restored, reboot your device.
7. You’re done!
Cheers! You’ve successfully reverted back to the stock kernel!

I am not understanding that how to copy kernel zip inro the sd card
plzz some one reply
Download the .ZIP, then connect your tablet to your PC, open it up, then there should be 2 folders to click, Storage and SD Card, click SD Card and copy it to there.
Some people don’t have an SD card in their Tabs
Sorry, could anyone clear something up for me? I have a rooted GT2 with CWM installed but when I download the files and put them to SD card they don’t show in recovery when I try to flash it. Why is that? I installed Quick boot and go into recovery via the app…
Hi Ivan,
What folders do you see in the recovery menu? Place the ZIP file in the directory which shows up in recovery (you can place the zip file in any folder on your device, the point is you should be able to see it in the recovery menu).
Hope this helps!
Thanx for the prompt response I will try it right now.
You’re welcome 🙂
Let us know how it goes for you.
Managed to do it, it was my bad, downloaded wrong files evidently. Flashed it, clocked to 1.4 but the device crashes, not lowering the frequency to 1.3 hoping it will work stable. Thanks for the help!
