How to Root the Asus Padfone 2
Rooting the Asus Padfone 2 is an extremely easy process, all thanks to MoDaCo for bringing us such an easy root method. If you’ve been wandering around Android rooting, you might be familiar with the Superboot root method. The said method works for a lot of Android devices out there and the Padfone 2 is among those supported devices. Our guide below should help you root your Asus Padfone 2 using the Superboot method. Here’s how:
I. Before You Begin:
1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, unrooting will restore the warranty of your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.
2. You must have unlocked the bootloader of your device. You can do so using this app.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Superboot (Download link’s available in the first post)
III. Rooting the Asus Padfone 2:
1. Download and place the Superboot archive onto your Desktop.
2. Extract files from the archive over to your Desktop.
3. Turn OFF your device.
4. Reboot your device into bootloader mode. To do so, simply hold down the Volume UP+Power buttons together.
5. Once inside bootloader mode, plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.
6. Now double-click on the install-superboot-windows.bat file that you extracted earlier to your Desktop.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions if any.
8. And you should be rooted now!
Congratulations! Your Padfone 2 has been successfully rooted and from now on, you won’t have any issues getting root-only apps on your device!
IV. Flash a Custom Recovery Image (Optional):
1. If you would like to flash a custom recovery image in order to flash custom ROMs, head to the How To Flash a Custom Recovery Image on the Asus Padfone 2 to learn how to do that.

Does this procedure can be applied with the latest firmware (WWE 10.4.16.8) ?
Doesnt work, the unlock app asks for google account password but says its wrong (its not). Also to get into bootloader its volume down not up…
Had problems with the vibrator in my Padfone2, Android 4.1.1 if I remember correctly (it was the same one as the picture on top of this article). Sent for repairs, warranty accepted. Got it back with Android 4.4.2. Don’t want to mess with repair guys for reasons not important. Now I’m gonna try this method, see if it works. Hopefully it does and I’ll report back.
Stuck on “Waiting for device”.
