How to Install TWRP Recovery and Obtain Root on the Fuhu Nabi 2

You may not know about the Fuhu Nabi 2 but with the holiday season around the corner, you might want to look at this tablet for your kid.  The tablet features a 7-inch display, a quad-core CPU (and a battery saver core), 8GB of built-in memory, mini-HDMI port, and currently runs Android 4.0 Ice-Cream Sandwich.  If you want to be able to run more recent firmwares on it, rooting it is the only way to go.  The guide below should take of this and also install TWRP Touch Recovery in the process, which enables you to backup/restore your device, and flash custom ROMs among other things.

I.  Before You Begin

1.  Charge your device to 75% or more before you start.

2.  Back up everything you feel is important to prevent data loss.

3.  This procedure is designed to work on the Windows operating system (preferably Windows 7).

4.  Make sure you have the necessary drivers installed for the procedure to work properly.  If you are unsure, install PdaNet+ before continuing to put the necessary files in place.

II.  Necessary Downloads

III.  Rooting the Fuhu Nabi 2

1.  Enable USB debugging on your device.  To do this, go to Settings > Development and tick the USB debugging checkbox.

2.  Extract mn2ri-v1.5.0-beta2.zip to a folder on your desktop.

3.  Connect your device to your PC.  If there are drivers being installed at this point, let them finish before continuing.

4.  Double-click on install.bat to begin the rooting application.

5.  Type in 3 using your keyboard and hit the enter key.

6.  Follow the on-screen instructions.

Your Nabi 2 should now be completely rooted and have TWRP Recovery installed too!  If you want to install Google Apps are missing on your Nabi 2, use Option 4 of the above program.
