How to Root the Impression i10 9.7 Tablet (using SuperOneClick)

The Impression i10 is a decent tablet with a big 9.7-inch IPS screen, a HDMI port, USB Host ports and a passable 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU.  But it does have one major drawback – as with the other OEM tablets, this device lacks the Android Market (or Play, as it is called now) app.  This guide will show you how to root the Impression i10 which should enable you to install the Market app manually and give access to the hundreds of thousands of apps that are available on it currently.  You can check our post to know how to sideload or install the Market and also Google Apps like GMail and GTalk.

I.  Downloading the Necessary Files

1.  SuperOneClick.

2.  Windows Drivers.

II.  Installing the Necessary Drivers

1.  Extract usb_driver x86_x64.zip that you downloaded above to a folder on your desktop.

2.  Connect your device with USB Debugging enabled (Read on to the next section to learn how to do this).

3.  Point to the extracted driver folder on your desktop when Windows asks for drivers.

III.  Rooting the Impression i10

1.  Extract the SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse.zip you downloaded above to a folder on your desktop.

2.  Enable USB Debugging on your device.  You can do this by heading to Settings > Applications > USB Debugging and checking the tickbox next to it.

3.  Set your device’s screen timeout to more than 10 minutes.  To do this, go to Settings > Display and then select Screen Timeout or Sleep.  Select any value more than 10 minutes and click OK.

4.  Connect your device to your Windows PC.

5.  Double-click SuperOneClick.exe from the SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse folder you extracted above.

6.  Make sure that the Exploit is set to Auto as you see in the screenshot below.

5.  Click on Root.

Once the process is complete, the Impression i10 should reboot on its own.  Look for the Superuser app in your app drawer to confirm root status.

Thanks go to CLShortFuse for the SuperOneClick solution who sure would appreciate a donation if you are willing to donate some!!

  1. “waiting for device” how long does that usually take? I’ve been waiting for a while. What am I doing wrong. I followed the instructions
    help

  2. There is no AUTO for the exploit. Just as ‘pneuter’ and a ‘GingerBreak’

Any one of those gives me an UNHANDLED EXCEPTION HAS OCCURRED error…

    1. You’ll find the Auto exploit in the newer version of the SuperOneClick. Grab the latest version from official thread on XDA.

  3. It’s only showing two things for the Exploit: GingerBreak and PSNeuter. Is there any way to solve this issue so that I can finish rooting my tablet?

      1. my mistake I thought it said GingerBread instead of GingerBreak
the download file now sounds like it is corrupted
perhaps some1 will give a listing of what files should be in that zip file???

    1. it appears that some things are omitted from the instructions
when unzipping the Super1 file my Antivirus program quarentined a file, I went to MS to investigate & found there was no real threat to the Windows operating system so I was able to restore the file.
It also appears that this version of Super1click was just for this tablet so the Auto settings is not there/or not needed, although you must stay on the Universal tab. I selected the GingerBreak (gingerbread crack?) instead, my 1st attempt did not have this option due my antivirus prog.
It seems to be working at the moment, will update if it works!

    2. Another step omitted you must turn ON USB storage when prompted by the tablet & cancel the Windows option to transfer files

  4. FYI I was able to install some Google apps by going online & searching for the filename.apk then selected the oldest file versions (look for 2010dates). The new apps are for the Icecream Andriods & this tablet is the older/1st Gingerbread Android.
Also Amazon has hundreds of compatible apps and a Download manager that will work also, way better than Slideme

  5. VITAL MISSING INSTRUCTIONS:

Have to get your PC to recognize your Android device before running Super1Click

Install an ADB driver on your PC using this file: usb_driver x86_x64.zip (the instructions tells you to download it but you must install this driver by using Add New Hardware in Control Panel with your Tablet/device connected to your PC)

Connect your Tablet/device to your PC

Open Device/Hardware Manager – look for yellow exclamation next to Android/Device – Click to install driver – point install file to unzipped usb_driver x86_x64 file

For Impression Tablets use “older” Super1Click version 2.2 selecting Gingerbreak option – this process should fly

then look for the Super User App on your tablet (I have not found a use for this app yet) but if its there however you know the tablet has been rooted

I am now able to go to Market/ Google Play and download apps directly from my browser

  6. my tablet didnt reboot itself and it does have the superuser but i cant access it and still cant download any apps at all… im going crazy… what is the point in having the tablet if i cant use it and download apps… ugh! please help!

    1. Kathy…my screen Is frozen also! I don’t know how
to unfreeze it…I tried the pinhole reset but It cycles up and freezes again….help!!!

  7. I just got this Impression tablet, which does not have any Market App and when I install any app there it does NOT RUN. Then I found this issue, I downloaded and extracted all filles; but Windows did not ask me for any drivers, and AUTO doesnt appear in the Exploit, I select GingerBreak and root… but nothing happens!!!! What can I do? I really want to download apps and use this thing but it appears to not work…
