How to Root the Karbonn Smart Tab 8 Version 2

The Karbonn Smart Tab 8 is a mid-range device for those looking for an affordable tablet, yet not too compromising on the specs’ side.  The device features a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU with an 8-inch touchscreen display, 1GB of RAM and currently runs Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.  Of course, if you want something more than what this tablet usually can do, rooting it is one way to go.  The guide below will help you do just that – root your Karbonn Smart Tab 8.

I.  Before You Begin

1.  This procedure only works for the Karbonn Smart Tab 8 Version 2; do not try it on any other variant.  To know if you have version 1 or version of Smart Tab 8, check on the back panel to see if you find S/N: STxxxxxxxxxxx ver 2.

2.  Charge your device to 75% or more before you start to prevent unwanted shutdowns.

3.  As always, back up anything you feel is important just in case.

II.  Necessary Downloads

III.  Rooting the Karbonn Smart Tab 8 Version 2

1.  Connect your device to your PC using a compatible microUSB cable and copy the utoo-root-signed.zip file you downloaded above to your SD card.

2.  Disconnect your device and power it off.

3.  Press and hold Volume Down + Power to put your device into recovery mode.

4.  Use the volume buttons to highlight ‘apply update from EXT ‘ option.  Use the Power button to select it.

5.  Navigate to the location of utoo-root-signed.zip, highlight it and use the power button to start flashing the zip file.

6.  Go back to the main menu and ‘select reboot system now‘.

That’s it!  Your Smart Tab 8 V2 should now be rooted!  For verification, look for the Superuser app in your app drawer or use any app like Root Checker Lite.
