How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Australian)

Australia is one of those countries that have got country-specific variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phablet. So your Australian variant is different than what you get in other countries, the United States, for example. If you’re curious to know how you can root your Australian Galaxy Note 4, the below guide should help you do that. It also teaches how you can flash a custom recovery on your device so you can then flash custom ROMs and custom Mods on your device and make it truly yours. Sounds good? huh. Here’s how:

Rooting is the process of gaining administrative rights on your Android device.  Once we root our Android device, we can then make changes to it to customize it well beyond what it normally can do.

Once you have root access on your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Australian), you’ll be able to:

  • Remove apps that were preinstalled by your carrier/manufacturer from your device.
  • Free up storage space (because of the above benefit).
  • Increase battery life (apps that might have been running constantly can be removed).
  • Increase performance (after removing apps that are always running, the device will be less bogged down and run smoother).
  • Update to a new version of Android (by flashing a custom recovery/ROM, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).
  • Tons of other customizations when you use your new found administrative rights to flash a custom ROM (again, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).

  1. I followed the process of rooting my galaxy note 4 as described and everything worked. I opened SuperSU and it asked me to disable knox cause it would be annoying and has been trying to do that for the last 5 mins. Is that usual? How long should it take?

  2. I used your site to successfully root my Note 4 .au

I was then a little confused as i didn’t know how to use supersu so i unrooted it.

I then decided to root it again but am now having major issues.

It says firmware upgrade encountered major issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.

I’m not sure how to do that can you help?

    Regards,

    Footsey
