How to Root the Xolo A500S

The Xolo A500S sports a dual-core CPU, dual SIM support, and runs Android 4.0 OS.  While all that sounds good enough for a mid-range device, people who have actually used the Xolo A500S will definitely tell you that the device is slower than any other dual-cored handset and if there is a way to solve this, it’s rooting it and then overclocking it.  The guide below should help you root your Xolo A500S and you should get overclocking after that in no time!

I.  Before You Begin

1.  Back up everything you feel is important before you start.

2.  Charge your device to 75% or more before you begin to prevent unwanted shutdowns.

II.  Necessary Downloads

Framaroot-1.6.1.apk [or latest version, file attached to this post]

III.  Rooting the Xolo A500S

1.  Connect your device to your PC and copy the Framaroot-1.6.1.apk file you downloaded above to your device’s SD card.

2.  Use a file manager app (Astro or ES File Explorer, for example), navigate to the location of Framaroot-1.6.1.apk, and install the application.  Make sure you have enabled installation of apps from unknown sources by going to Settings > Security and ticking the Unknown sources checkbox.

3.  Go to your app drawer and open up the Framaroot app.

4.  Select Install SuperSU from the drop-down menu and tap on Boromir.

5.  Wait for the success popup.

6.  Reboot your device.

The Lava Xolo A500S that you now hold in your hands should now be rooted!
