How to Update the Apple Watch
Apple released their first OS update to the Apple Watch today with performance enhancements and support for the new emojis, but, since this is a new device, maybe you’re not quite sure how to update it. Just like with the iPhone itself, it comes down to forcing the device to check for the update manually, then letting it download and install. The difference with the watch is that it needs to be done in the watch app on your iPhone, instead of on the watch itself. Here’s how to do it.
1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
2. Tap on My Watch.
3. Tap on General.
4. Tap on Software Update (it’s helpful to be connected to WiFi at this point to speed this up).
5. Tap Download and Install.
6. Enter your iPhone passcode/password if you have one set (which you should, safety first, people!).
7. Tap Agree.
8. Put the Apple Watch on the magnetic charger it came with and make sure it’s charged to 50% (it just won’t start if it isn’t).
9. Enter in your pin code on the watch if needed.
10. The watch will restart and flash the update.
After a bit, it’ll be done flashing and it’ll restart. After that, you’re all set. Repeat this exact process should you ever need to update again.
