How to Install Custom Recovery on the Tronsmart TS7 Glacier (MTK6582)

Now that you are rooted, the next step to flashing custom ROMs is installing a custom recovery.  Not only can you flash custom ROMs, you can also make/restore backups on a custom recovery (ClockworkMod Recovery in this case), a very useful tool if you plan to switch between custom ROMs all the time.  The guide should help you with this procedure and you should be done in no time.

I.  Before You Begin

1.  Your Tronsmart TS7 needs to be rooted before you start this procedure.  If you aren’t already, use our guide to root it the easy way.

2.  Back up everything you feel is important just in case, although data loss is highly unlikely.

3.  Charge your device to 75% or more before you start to prevent unwanted shutdowns.

II.  Necessary Downloads

1.   Mobileuncle MTK Tools

2.  TS7_4G_CMW.rar [Download link available under ClockworkMod Recovery section of this post, password provided in the post thread]

III.  Installing Custom Recovery on the Tronsmart TS7

1.  Extract TS7_4G_CMW.rar to a folder on your desktop.  You should end up with a file called Glacier-TS7_130805__recovery_130815-142418.img.

2.  Connect your device to your PC and copy Glacier-TS7_130805__recovery_130815-142418.img to your device’s SD card (do not put it into any subfolders, just copy and paste it into the main folder).  Also, make sure there are no other .img files in this location and if there are any, delete them.

2.  Open up the newly installed Mobileuncle MTK Tools app from your app drawer.  Give root access when prompted.

3.  Tap on Recovery and you should be provided with a list of .img files on your SD card.

4.  Tap on Glacier-TS7_130805__recovery_130815-142418.img to begin the flashing process.

5.  Once flashed, reboot your device.

Your Tronsmart TS7 now has ClockworkMod Recovery installed!
