LG Optimus 2x ready to hit UK in March

It’s not official yet but so say the major retailers in the land of the Queen.  Earlier rumors pointed to a release this month in the European continent but as Expansys has put up on its site, the date now seems to be pushed a further two months, at least in the UK, to March 21.  Further validating the fact is yet another online UK tech dealer Carphone Warehouse, which pegs it with a vague “March 2011” as the release date. As for the asking price, Expansys demands a hefty £499.99 for the “superphone” while Carphone Warehouse seems noncomittal as of now on a tag.

The ultrapowerful dual-core Nvidia Tegra2 processor, coupled with its 8mpx lens and its 4-inch WVGA display among other things (Ennio Morricone ringtones included), definitely justifies its expensive demands but is Android 2.2 enough to use all that power underneath or will LG decide on Gingerbread before the device is actually released?  Now that is something we’ll just have to wait on and see.
