Motorola Milestone 2.2 Froyo update delayed yet again

We are in the age of the Gingerbread but for Milestone users, it is yet another period of wallowing in the ancient pits of Android 2.1 Eclair, thanks to Motorola’s hesitancy to push out the update already.  The company has recently made a Facebook post saying that they will “continue to work closely” on the 2.2 update which is now tentatively scheduled for a 2011 Q1 release.  As if this isn’t irksome enough, the company has also announced on its support forum that the Android 2.2 update for the Motorola Defy has been delayed to the second quarter of 2011, while the Motorola XT720 will have to be satisfied with Eclair only for the rest of its life.

An official Flash-ready Milestone (as advertised by the company) is yet to be seen and needless to say, with millions of unsatisfied users out there, Motorola is definitely going to lose a big chunk of its customers to other manufacturers, who are more receptive to consumer feedback.  For a smartphone that brought back the company from the brink of destruction, Motorola surely is giving it the worst possible treatment.  Until the update is out, be sure to head over to our Android ROMs section if you want a taste of Froyo on your Milestone.

  1. So dissapointed, I thought the milestone would be the phone to improve motorolas rep, I was instantly disappointed, the phone is cheap, and the support and customer care is non existent, yet another company, which cares more about tricking it’s customers and stealing their money than providing a quality phone with good support for their customers. I will never buy another motorola.
