How to Root the HTC Desire X Dual SIM (T329W)

The HTC Desire X Dual SIM is, as the name suggests, the dual SIM version of Desire X and features pretty much the same specs – 4-inch touchscreen display, 5MP camera and 1GHz dual-core processor with 768MB RAM.  And like the original Desire X, we now have a root solution for this device and a custom recovery.  For this procedure to work though, you should have installed custom recovery first, which we have already covered in another post.

I.  Before You Begin

1.  You need to have your bootloader unlocked for this procedure to work.  Visit HTCDev to do this.

2.  You’ll need to have a custom recovery installed.  Use our guide for this if you haven’t already done so.

3.  Back up everything you feel is important.

4.  Charge your device to 75% or more before you start to prevent unwanted shutdowns.

II.  Necessary Downloads

UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.89.zip [or latest version]

III.  Rooting the HTC Desire X Dual SIM

1.  Connect your device to your PC and copy UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.89.zip to your device’s SD card.

2.  Boot your device into ClockworkMod Recovery.  To do this, power off your device, and hold the Power plus Volume Down buttons until you boot into fastboot mode.  Now, use the Volume Up/Down keys to navigate to select bootloader and then recovery option and use the Power button to select it.

3.  Once in custom recovery, select Install zip from sdcard.

4.  Next, select Choose zip from sdcard.

5.  Navigate to the location of UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.89.zip and select it, then confirm the flash on the next screen.

6.  Once flashed, go back to the main menu and reboot your device.

That’s it!  You are now completely rooted!
