How to Root the Tronsmart TS7 Glacier (MTK6582)

The Tronsmart TS7 is an affordable Android 4.2.1 device that features a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU with a gig of RAM, a 5MP camera, a 4.7-inch touchscreen display, and dual SIM support.  If you are looking to root this device, look no more as the guide below should be more than informative and later on in another post, we’ll show you how to install a custom recovery on it to enable flashing custom ROMs.

I.  Before You Begin

1.  Back up your data even though data loss is highly unlikely.

2.  Charge your device to 75% or more before you begin.

II.  Necessary Downloads

RootGenius.exe [Just click on the green button next to the pirate Android logo]

III.  Rooting the Tronsmart TS7

1.  Enable USB debugging on your device.  To do this, go to Settings > Development options and tick the USB debugging checkbox.  If you don’t find the Development options listed under Settings, go to Settings > About phone and keep tapping on the build number until you see the message ‘you are a developer.’

2.  Double-click on RootGenius.exe to begin the rooting process.

3.  Follow the on-screen instructions.

4.  Once your device reboots, go to the Play Store and install the SuperSU app.  Do not open the app yet.

5.  Install a file manager with root file access capabilities (like the Root Browser or the ES File Manager) from the Play Store.

6.  Open up the file manager and navigate to /system/app/ folder.

7.  Delete (or just move it to a different location) KingUser.apk from the folder.

8.  Reboot your device.

9.  Once your device reboots, open up the SuperSU app and update binaries using the normal method.

Your Tronsmart TS7 is now rooted!

IV.  Installing a Custom Recovery
