Samsung Is Bringing the Clamshell Phone Back: New Leak Shows Off Galaxy Folder Dual Screen Flip Design

Remember the good old days when hanging up on someone was as easy and dramatic as snapping your phone shut? Ah, the perks of owning a clamshell phone. Well, it looks like those days may be among us once more as Samsung has been working on a throwback of their own. Say hello to the Galaxy Folder. Just as the name implies it is a smartphone with all the touch capacities you’ve come to rely on but also acts a folder than you can shut with the snap of a your hand. Even though Samsung spilled the beans about the upcoming  Galaxy Folder’s launch, we were still waiting around for an actual picture of the device. Thanks to Clien.net‘s forums we can now all feast our eyes on what appears to be the real deal in all its Android snapper glory. As expected, the Galaxy Folder is an redesign of the W2013 from last fall. The Galaxy S 4-era software received the biggest update and you can also depict from the images that the external design received some love too. Note the gold side trim detail with a camera key that replaces the W2013’s dual-SIM button. Specs were also leaked out which may have you pleasantly surprised:

  • 3.7 inch Amoled displays with 800×480 resolution
  • Snapdragon 400 Dual core 1.7Ghz
  • 2GB RAM
  • 1820mAh battery
  • LTE Support
  • Touch Screen
  • Android 4.2.2

So, now the real question becomes what do you think about this flip phone, or how about the idea of carrying around a flip phone in general? Lets just hope they not calling it “Innovating” for the greater good of Humanity, because i fail to see how a rehash (No matter what the spec sheet is saying ) will bring back interest into the Flip Phone market ! I can see it already : Samsung Galaxy Note & Folder 5″ Big Ass Flipper and that in at least 6 Alterations 🙂
    But Honestly if it turns out anything like that ugly thing on the pictures from the article i doubt we will be seeing Sales in the region of 10 Million in 3 Month … (Wink)

    I personally like the flip phones because it was the start of business like mobiles. Then, they were phased out when touch screen phones began to parade in the market.
