How to Set an Image as the Always-On Display on Your Samsung Phone

With the launch of the new Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, I figured I’d do a few quick tutorials on the site for anyone who picked one up and wanted to learn some tips and tricks for it. For this tip and trick, let me show you how you can set an image as your Always-On Display screen (instead of our usual boring clock).

Photo on AOD

This tip and trick was actually taught to me by MrMobile, Michael Fisher and works on any Samsung Galaxy device with Always-On Display and Samsung Experience UI. This means, the Galaxy S7, S8, S9, Note8, etc. as well as a few other older models.

To get started, go to Settings.

Open Settings

Tap on Lock Screen & Security.

Lock Screen & Security

Tap on Clock and FaceWidgets.

Clock and FaceWidgets

Tap on Clock Style.

Clock Style

Scroll over to the one with the image in it and tap it.

Find Photo Widget

Tap the image or plus sign in the center.

Tap Plus Sign

Choose an image.

Choose Photo

Tap Apply.

Apply the Photo to AOD

And there you go. Get creative with it and just keep in mind that whatever you put on here will show on your phone whenever it’s not in use so, you know, choose wisely.
