Speed Test: Galaxy S9 Plus vs iPhone X vs Pixel 2 XL vs Mate 10 Pro vs OnePlus 5T vs Note8

Ok, let’s do an experiment with the new Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. I wanted to see how it (and the Snapdragon 845 in it) compared to the other flagships currently out. Namely the iPhone X, Pixel 2 XL, Mate 10 Pro, OnePlus 5T, and the Note8. So to test it, I opened the same apps on all the devices running the same accounts on the same gigabit speed WiFi network and lined up the footage to see how long it took each to render and display the app or game.

Now, of course, this isn’t the most scientific test, but figured it’s the closest to how we experience using our phones on a daily basis–all the small moments waiting a bit longer for apps to load, swapping between them, etc. if after watching this, you have a better suggestion for a speed test, feel free to let me know in the comments below. Otherwise, let’s get started.

And here are the results:

Sonic Dash:

So all in all, definitely a top tier device coming in second only to the stock Android devices (the Pixel and the OnePlus) which is really to be expected, I suppose. The weird thing was that the Note8 beat it a few times. Not sure what to make of that. If anyone has any theories, feel free to share them in the comments below, otherwise, hope this was informative or at least interesting to some people out there and feel free to let me know another way of doing a speed test you think might be better.

Thanks!
