T-Mobile G2 to get Android 2.3 this summer?

It’s European counterpart, the Desire Z, is already on the list to get Gingerbread by the end of June, but will the T-Mobile G2 get the same treatment? It seems so, according to Computer World.  An HTC official confirmed the news on the phone to them and as usual, gave them a vague Q2 2011 time frame.  Still, this seems in sync with HTC’s official announcement for the other Desire series phones and we could well be seeing the G2 getting upgraded to Android 2.3 at the same time as its other variants.

As of now, only the Nexus One and the Nexus S rock the four-month-old update but if HTC is able to keep its promise, we should be seeing almost all of the company’s Android device up to speed updatewise before the half year mark of 2011 is up.  Stay tuned and we’ll let you know when your G2 can actually be munching on some Gingerbread.
