How to Unroot the LG G Flex2 (Sprint)

So you’ve had enough fun with your LG G Flex2 by rooting it, flashing custom ROMs, and just tinkering around with it in every way imaginable. But, now, sadly, you have a need to get it back to stock.

Whether you need to unroot the LG G Flex2 to send it in for warranty, sell it to someone, or just want to have a clean slate to start all over with it, this is going to be how to do it.

Essentially, we’re going to use LG’s own flashing tool and flash the stock firmware from LG onto the device. This firmware contains the recovery, boot image, stock system image, everything you need to wipe out any changes you’ve made and get it as close to the way it was when you bought it.

I. Before You Begin

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. Please backup anything that you think is important as the following procedure will wipe off your device.

3. You need a Windows based PC to do this procedure.

4. Download and install LG USB drivers on your PC, if they aren’t already installed.

5. This procedure should only work for the Sprint (LS996) variant of the device. Please do not try this on any other device or you’ll brick it.

hi thanks for the article. my flex 2 is LS996ZV4 can i still use this method? the version you provide is V5. is it okey to flash my V4 phone with it?

    1. Hi Lenny,

If the device is the same as the one mentioned in the procedure, you won’t have any issues flashing the firmware. Just look at the model of your device and make sure it matches with the one listed here in this procedure, software version doesn’t matter.

      Hope that helps!

      1. Hi, after flashing completed 100% a Failed message appeared and now my Lg flex 2 is not turning on nor going in download mod. kindly help

      1. Hi Mahesh. My model number is LG LS996KIT and the software version was 5.1.1V Z6 with super user installed. I tried to flash exactly as you instructed and the flash tool went upto 100% after that the fone went blank and the flash tool displayed rebooting message. after couple of minutes the flash tool displayed Failed message and the fone remained blank (lifeless). Then I disconnected the fone and tried to turn it on by using power button only but it did not work. then I tried vol down + power key but that did not work either. then i connected my fone with laptop by using vol up key, that did not work either and the fone reamained lifeless/dead during all of above. Now I think I have issue with boot (dead boot). Now, if I connect my fone to laptop, The Device manager shows ” QHUSB_BULK” message. KINDLY HELP. your help will be greatly appreciated. best wishes and stay blessed……

      2. Hi Mahesh, I am 100% sure that my mobile is Sprint G Flex 2 that has model number- LS996, and its not just me out there having this issue. THE ISSUE IS WITH BOOTLOADER as boot loader is 5.1.1 and trying to load 5.0.1. Kindly find the solution. FOR OTHER PEOPLE READING THIS MESSAGE. PLEASE DO NOT FLASH ZV5 ON ANY OTHER VERSION OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE IN A DEEP ***T HOLE…….NEED SOLUTION PLS…..

        1. Hi Shahid,

It seems there’re issues with the stock ROM that’s being used and I believe flashing another stock ROM should solve the issue for you.

You can do that by Googling for a stock ROM for your device and then getting it flashed on your device using the above procedure. Make sure to use the ROM that you had before on your device so that you know it works just fine. That should do the job for you.

          Thanks!

          1.
