How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy Ring

If you’re a “flashaholic” and have flashed a number of custom ROMs on your Samsung Galaxy Ring but just none of those could satisfy your needs and you wish to go back to the stock, this guide should help you do that by letting you unroot and flashing a stock ROM on your Samsung Galaxy Ring device.

Unrooting helps in various situations, for example, it lets you bring your device back to the working condition if it was soft-bricked before due to the issues of a custom ROM, but most people also unroot their device when they plan to sell it so that the buyer can start customizing all over again and there’s no traces of what you had done to the device.

So, if you’re in any of the above mentioned situations and would like to unroot and get your Samsung Galaxy Ring back to the stock, the following procedure should help you:

I. Before You Begin

1. You should’ve rooted your device using our how to root the Samsung Galaxy Ring procedure.

2. You must have a Windows based PC to do this procedure.

3. Ensure that Samsung USB drivers are installed on your PC. Install them if they aren’t already.

4. This should get your device back to the stock firmware.

5. You should only try this on the SPH-M840 model of the device. You can find out your model number by heading to Menu > Settings > About phone on your device.

To unroot the device, you’ll flash the stock firmware using Odin that’ll remove root-access and put back all of the default goodies on the device. Here’s how:

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download Stock Firmware and save it to your desktop.

2. Download Odin and save it to your desktop.

III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy Ring

1. Unzip files from Odin over to your desktop by right-clicking on it and selecting Extract here.

2. Double-click on Odin executable and it’ll launch.

3. When Odin launches, uncheck the Repartition option in it.

4. Click on PDA in the Odin and select Stock Firmware available on your desktop.

5. Checkmark both Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options in the Odin.

6. Turn off your device.

7. Reboot your device into download mode so that Odin can flash stock firmware on it. To do so, hold down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together on your device.

8. Press Volume UP when prompted and you’ll be in download mode.

9. Plug in your device to your PC using a USB cable.

10. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing stock firmware on your device.

11. When Odin’s done flashing stock firmware, your device should automatically reboot.

12. You’re now unrooted!

Your Samsung Galaxy Ring is now unrooted and is running the stock Samsung firmware.

You don’t have root-access on your device anymore, thus any root-only apps won’t work until you go ahead and re-root your device. So, for now, enjoy what the stock firmware has to offer!
