How To Unlock a Blackberry

Want to use your Blackberry on another GSM carrier? Here’s how.

I. Find Your IMEI

1. On your Blackberry goto Options > Status OR look on the white sticker under the battery.

2. Write down the IMEI from that screen or sticker.

II. Get An Unlock Code

1. Either do this (if you have had your phone on the same carrier for more than 3 months)

Unlock Your Phone for Free

or purchase an unlock code from any other unlocking site

2. Wait for your unlock code via email.

III. Input Your Unlock Code

1. Once you get your unlock code, goto Options > Advanced Options > SIM Card

2. While on that screen shift and type

MEPD

or

MEPPD (if you are using a Vodafone handset)

3. Options should appear now on that screen. Now hold shift again and type the following (keep in mind that you may ALSO have to hold Alt to input the 2):

MEP2

or

MEPP2 (if you are using a Vodafone handset)

4. You will now be asked for your Network MEP code (the unlock code).

5. Put in the unlock code you received via email EXACTLY as it is written then push enter.

6. Done!

Next you will need to set up your Service Books so your phone can get internet and email on the new carrier. Use the procedure below:

  1. If i dont have verizon and i want to unlock my blackberry storm, but i have a friend that does have verizon could i ask her to call to get an unlock code?

    1. Aaron,

No, the phone must be activate on her account for 3 months before they will give her a code. You could purchase the unlock code from us, takes less than 24 hours… Click on Unlock My Phone at the top of the site if you choose to do that.
