How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the HTC EVO 4G LTE

HTC EVO 4G LTE is now eligible to get the TWRP Recovery, a full-touch based recovery that allows some of the great operations on your device such as making nandroid backups, installing custom ROMs and so on. You may want to flash a custom recovery because it provides far more and better features than the stock one and installing it doesn’t take more than a few minutes. Just follow the steps in the following guide and get the recovery installed on your device. And here you go:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have done our How to Root the HTC EVO 4G LTE procedure.

2. This will replace your current recovery with the TWRP Recovery.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. TWRP Recovery Image (Download the latest version having .img as extension)

2. Terminal EmulatorQR Code (Google Play Link)

III. Installing TWRP Recovery on the HTC EVO 4G LTE:

1. Download and place the Recovery Image onto your Desktop.

2. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy the Recovery Image over to the root of your SD card. It’s the topmost folder.

4. Once the file’s copied, disconnect your device from your PC.

5. Now head over to Google Play and install the Terminal Emulator app on your device

6. Once installed, launch it on your device.

7. Type in following commands into the app. Make sure to replace twrp.img with the actual name of the Recovery Image you downloaded.

su
dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22

8. Once the recovery’s installed on your device, reboot your device.

9. You’re all set!

Congrats! Your HTC EVO 4G LTE is now rocking TWRP Recovery and now begins your race towards customization!
