iPhone 4 Pictures and Breakdown

So as the story goes, some (supposedly now jobless, but who really knows) Apple employee carelessly left his new iPhone 4 at a bar in Redwood City where someone with enough brains, decided to take some pictures and show the world. Well, now Gizmodo has gotten their hands on the device, took it apart and decided to let us all in on what they found out. Here’s the details and pictures:

Specifications:

Front Facing Video Chat Camera
Better Camera Than iPhone 3GS (I’m assuming a 5.0MP) WITH a Flash
Micro SIM, instead of Regular SIM Card (This Will be a BIG Problem for People wanting to unlock it for use on their GSM carrier since most companies don’t use MicroSIM cards)
Better Resolution (Rumor 960×640, I’d say it’ll be close to that, at least 840×480 for sure)
Appears to Have a Secondary Mic for Noise Cancellation Possibly
Two Volume Buttons Instead of a Rocker
Power, Mute, and Volume Buttons are all Metallic
Back is Entirely Flat and Either Made of a Glass or Shiny Plastic (I’d assume the Plastic, but Gizmodo says more likely glass. Could be either really)
Aluminium Border
Slightly Smaller Screen than 3GS
Less Rounded, More Square
3 grams heavier (Oh trust me they did whip out a scale)
Larger Battery (Approximately 16% Larger in Size according to Gizmodo)

Head over to the source link below for a quick video, the story of how it was lost, and why Gizmodo thinks it is the real deal.

What do you guys think of it? No doubt it’ll sell, I mean it’s an iPhone and that’s pretty much all that is needed for iPhone fans to buy it. But as non-iPhone users, think it’s nice phone?

  1. I dont like the look, its not as slick or clean looking. they finally changed it from the same old look theyve had. Ive never been an iphone fan, cause your phone is just like everyone else, no backgrounds or anything (ive heard thats changing and they are basically giving you a partially jailbroken iphone)

  2. From a distance it looks like this new model could complement the MBP nicely.
With it’s aluminum Border it matches well with Apples’ other products.
All the new features make this new iPhone a prominent leader in the smartphone arena, especially with the release of iPhone OS 4. EXCEPT FOR ONE THING, looking at the details of the design they don’t necessarily scream Apple. The aluminum border looks like something Sony designed. The border should have been one smooth continous piece like the first iPod touch. The buttons on the side (probably one for picures and another for recording) stick out too much, I would of prefered submerged buttons like the home button. Or an aluminum rocker. This phone is overall is a huge improvement from the 3GS but it just doesn’t say Apple to me.

  3. I love the aesthetic of this. And for those that don’t like the flat back, well, I’ve had both the first gen iPhone with a flat back and a second gen with the rounded back, and I much prefer the flat back. Sits better on a table for rapid typing, and the “level” apps actually work well. And for some odd reason, the rounder back doesn’t feel any better in the hand. I think this is a giant improvement, and I can’t wait to ditch my 3G for this.

  4. The reason why they made this “down look” as you may call it, Main reason to prevent less drops from consumers. If anyone has held the IPhone 3g/3gs you then know its a slip sleek (drop waiting to happen) The new phone is Brushed aluminum on the sides for grip, The back however is not aluminum its the same recycled plastic apples been using for years, Expect cracks again but very few compared to previous models. Reason for the plastic, Heat needs to escape the phone. The Sim is now located on the side of the phone for big reasons. Finally in North America you can send your band to your computer to access the internet. You heard it from an insider first. And i left out so much more like camera-s 😉

  5. I think the back looks cool being all slick, but I bet that’ll be difficult to keep clean, and I agree that it looks a little too square, I wish it was more rounded and sleek looking. It looks too much like it’s cheap competitors that they spent 2 years trying to distinguish themselves from.

  6. I saw that article and they said this is a fake made by some japanese dudes to try to sell it for a big amount of money. That is why the story is so odd because is a lie. This will not be the 4G.

  7. i guess it is then..i read in another article that they found out it was fake..but hopefully it is the real deal..

  8. As this phone is a prototype that was being street tested it’s a good bet that the finished article is more sleek and refined than this one. After all the iPhone sets the standard for the competitors for the following year.

  9. I absolutely love my 3GS. I am a total fan of what I believe to be the best designed piece of technical innovation to date. I’ve had all models of iPhone so far and look forward to this one! I like the curved back on the current model but it isn’t any easier to hold. Love the sound of the new features.

  10. The Drama gets better than that. Apple uses “guestapo”-like tactics and legally breaks into a Gizmodo workers house and legally steals his servers and personal computers and claims that it is well within their rights and tries to put spin on the story that makes Apple look like the victim in all of this. Craziness.

  11. Once again, a great device that is unfortunately not yet ready for the world stage… micro SIM ?? How soon will worldwide carriers adopt this standard ??
It will be interesting to see the reception of the new Nokia N8 in August… what a set of features !!!

  12. Hi,
The iPhone 4 is such a waste of time… i mean Android is sooo much better….anyway… who wants the iPhone?
