How to Install TWRP Recovery on Asus Transformer Tablet

Asus Transformer users have gotten the taste of ClockworkMod Recovery a long ago and now the TWRP Recovery is released for the said tablet. This is an unofficial port of the TWRP Recovery, it works pretty well, though. As the developer says, the recovery lets you flash custom ROMs easily as well as you now have a fully-functional File Manager right in the recovery mode. If this features lure you, then just go ahead and install the recovery on your tablet.

I. Before You Begin:

1. The following procedure works on Asus Transformer TF101 model only.

2. You must have rooted your tablet before doing this procedure. Please head to our how to Root Asus Transformer TF101 procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.

3. You must have ClockworkMod Recovery Installed on your tablet. Please head to our how to install ClockworkMod Recovery on Transformer TF101 procedure to install it on your device.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Download the TWRP Recovery Image from here. (Download link is in the second post)

III. Installing TWRP Recovery on Transformer TF101:

1. Download and place the Recovery Image onto your Desktop.

2. Connect your tablet to your PC using the USB cable.

3. Transfer the Recovery Image to your tablet’s storage.

4. Disconnect your tablet from the PC after you have transferred the Recovery Image.

5. Turn OFF your tablet.

6. Reboot your tablet into the ClockworkMod Recovery. While your tablet is turned OFF, press and hold Volume DOWN+Power keys together to boot into the recovery mode.

7. You will see the words scrolling on your screen, press the Volume UP key promptly to enter into the recovery mode.

8. From the CWM Recovery, choose install zip from sdcard followd by choose zip from sdcard.

9. Choose the Recovery Image you transferred to your tablet in the step-3 for flashing. It will take a while to complete the flashing process.

10. When the flashing has completed, choose reboot system now from the recovery menu.

Well done, you have successfully installed the TWRP Recovery on your tablet. You now have a new custom recovery on your device using which you can flash custom ROMs and do all sort of recovery tasks.

  2. I’m confused, i’m installing TWRP because i don’t have a recovery, but you want me to already have CWM recovery before installing TWRP? DAFUK. Fucking useless if i say so.

    1. Some users do like shifting to other custom recoveries out there to try out new features they bring with them.

      If you’ve been using CWM for a long time and now want to have a different recovery, you can try the TWRP.
